OMERS (through its Capital Partners arm), makes first investments in the private equity space, focusing on co-leads and PE funds.


OMERS Capital Partners makes first direct control investment, purchasing CNNMatthews, later renamed Marketwired – establishing OMERS as one of a global handful of pension plans capable of leading direct private equity investments (successfully exited to Nasdaq in 2016).


During the uncertainty of the “Great Recession,” OMERS private equity program acquires controlling interest in baked foods maker Give & Go (exited 2016), lab services provider Maxxam Analytics (exited 2014) and railway equipment maker Nordco (exited 2013).


OMERS Capital Partners changes its name to OMERS Private Equity; establishes offices in New York and London to drive growth in the U.S. and Europe.


Completes several new platform investments, including United States Infrastructure Corp. (exited 2013), Logibec (exited 2015), Caliber Collision (partial exit in 2019), Husky Injection Molding (exited 2018), Great Expressions Dental Centers (exited 2016) and MatrixCare (exited 2018). In 2015, acquires Environmental Resources Management (ERM) a leading global sustainability consultancy (exited 2021).


Establishes presence in Singapore; OMERS Ventures and OMERS Growth Equity, join the broader OMERS Private Equity family.


Further expands U.S. portfolio with investment in TurnPoint, a leading provider of residential services.
